The president of SUNY New Paltz has postponed May commencement ceremonies because of COVID-19.

SUNY New Paltz President Donald Christian says the ceremonies that were scheduled for May 15-17 will be rescheduled, but new dates have not been chosen given the uncertainty of the length of the pandemic. Graduates will receive their diplomas by mail. Other celebrations slated for the end of the academic year also are postponed. In an email to students, faculty and staff Thursday, Christian wrote that the decision was one the most painful he’s made as SUNY New Paltz president.
