Bard College Creates Program Focused On Land, Air And Water

A college in New York’s Hudson Valley has established a program that aims to develop solutions to local and regional environmental problems.

The new interdisciplinary program at Bard College is the Bard Center for the Study of Land, Air and Water. The program looks to connect Bard faculty, staff and students with local and regional communities to develop solutions to issues affecting natural resources. The Center at the Annandale-on-Hudson-based college seeks to address a variety of challenges, from access to clean drinking water to the effects of climate change, using quantitative research and other tools that span academic disciplines. The idea is also to recognize that solutions to environmental problems must also address race, class and gender.
