The Orange County District Attorney will not file criminal charges in a police officer-involved incident during which a driver was killed.

District Attorney David Hoovler said Tuesday that his office would not be filing criminal charges in an incident in which a motorist was killed while being pursued by a Town of Crawford police officer. On the morning of December 5, Hoovler says the police officer tried to pull over the driver for a traffic infraction on Route 17K, but the driver fled, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a pickup head-on. The driver who fled was killed. The pickup driver was injured. A police investigation revealed that the driver who was killed was the subject of a felony arrest warrant involving charges of criminal contempt and criminal mischief, a warrant that had been issued in a case involving a domestic incident in the Town of Montgomery.
