Molinaro Says He's Closer To Decision On Potential Run For Governor

Republican Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro says he is much closer to a decision about whether to run for governor of New York.

Molinaro says he expects to announce his decision by the end of the year.

"The direction the state is headed in is still very troubling to me,” says Molinaro. “And the results of the last election should suggest to anybody that they have to take into consideration what the political climate looks like and feels like.”

Some local elections in the Hudson Valley in November mirrored the blue wave described elsewhere in the country. One example is state Senator George Latimer’s victory over two-term Republican Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino. Meantime, Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo says he plans to seek a third term in 2018.
