Molinaro Says He'll Decide On Gubernatorial Run By Year's End

Republican Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro says he will decide by the end of the year whether to run for governor of New York. Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to seek a third term in 2018.
Molinaro says he has a leaning about whether to run, but is not ready to divulge it.

“My kids understand the idea of running for governor. My wife supports the idea of running for governor, but it has to be right for me. It has to be right for the people I hope to serve. It also has to be right for the people I serve now,” says Molinaro. “And if all of those things come together, I’m going to give it a shot. If they don’t come together, I’m going to continue to commit 100 percent to the job that I’ve been given because I really love this work, and I love serving people, and I want to make this community an example of what government ought to be about, and that’s serving and helping people.”

Molinaro is considering teaming up with state Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb of Canandaigua on a Republican ticket.
