Vassar Haiti Project To Hold Art Sale To Benefit Hurricane Relief Efforts

The Vassar Haiti Project has been holding art sales to support the welfare of artists and artisans in Haiti for 15 years. However, one taking place this weekend in Greenwich, Connecticut is aimed specifically at supporting Hurricane Matthew relief efforts and educational projects in Haiti.

The Poughkeepsie-based Vassar Haiti Project was founded in 2001 and supports the welfare of artists and artisans in Haiti and sustainable development in a remote mountain village in the northwest of Haiti, Chermaitre. The Vassar Haiti Project functions through the auction and sale of Haitian art and handcrafts. And while contributions are guided by five initiatives — education, medical access, reforestation, water purification and women's leadership —  an art sale taking place November 18-20 will benefit Hurricane Matthew relief efforts and education projects. Proceeds will support artists and artisans who have lost their homes in the south of the impoverished Caribbean nation as well as Chermaitre.

The Vassar Haiti Project and the Second Congregational Church of Greenwich are co-hosting the Haitian art and handcraft sale at the church November 18-20 to benefit Hurricane Matthew relief efforts and education projects in Haiti. For more information, visit:  www.thehaitiproject.org.
