Rockland Sets Up Resources For Residents Affected By Hoboken Train Crash

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie says most of the injuries in the Hoboken commuter train crash came from people aboard the train, not standing on the platform. Meanwhile, the Rockland County executive is providing resources to residents affected by the crash.

Christie, however, said during a news conference Thursday that the one person who died was a woman who was standing on the platform and was struck by debris. He says 108 people were injured. Christie and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo say the New Jersey Transit train was traveling too fast when it came into the station Thursday morning, but it is unclear why. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says the train originated at 7:23 a.m., in Spring Valley and also stopped in Nanuet and Pearl River. Rockland officials do not yet have information about the number of county residents who may be injured. Rockland has set up a 24/7 emergency number to provide counseling services to individuals and families affected by the train crash. The number is 845-517-0400.
