Orange County Officials To Host Vigil For Dallas Victims

With statements coming in Friday from local elected officials in the Hudson Valley about the fatal shooting of five Dallas police officers Thursday night, one of the officials has announced his county will hold a vigil next week.

Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus will join the county district attorney, sheriff and law enforcement community to pay tribute to the victims Tuesday, July 12 at 6 p.m. in the sheriff’s office. Neuhaus say that, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, the incident that left five police officers dead and others wounded was the deadliest for law enforcement in the U.S. since 9/11. The vigil, which is open to the public, also will honor all fallen officers. The shootings were at a protest following police-involved killings earlier this week of two black men, in two different states.
