Burlington, Vermont’s police chief is suspending solo officer patrols in the wake of fatal sniper shootings of police in Dallas until the prospect of copycat attacks on other officers diminishes.
Chief Brandon del Pozo says Burlington police are "friends, neighbors and Vermonters" and double patrols are safer for officers.

The Vermont State Police expressed condolences and said troopers will continue to be vigilant and assess any threat that could jeopardize troopers or Vermont communities .
