Westchester County Legislators To Discuss Ban On Toxic Toys

Clean and Healthy New York/NYLCV Education Fund

Westchester County legislators Monday afternoon will take up the topic of toxic toys.

Westchester County Legislators will begin discussion of the Children’s Product Safety Act, which prohibits the sale of toys that contain certain dangerous chemicals. The discussion begins Monday afternoon at 1:30, during a joint meeting of two committees of the Board of Legislators. The bill was introduced in September by Democratic Legislator Catherine Borgia. An official from the New York League of Conservation Voters will address legislators. Health and environmental advocates in December released a report about toxic toys in Westchester. The Westchester discussion comes less than one week after Albany became the first county in New York to pass legislation that bans children's products containing toxic chemicals.
