New York Medical College in Valhalla is the recipient of a more than half-a- million dollar federal grant to study the effect chemotherapy has on ovaries. Democratic Congresswoman Nita Lowey, in announcing the grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, says the study, in addition to learning the effects of chemotherapy, aims to reveal treatments to prevent ovarian damage and preserve fertility.
