Two state lawmakers say it is time for New York to fix a broken reimbursement system. They will make their demand Thursday afternoon in Rockland County.
New York state Senator David Carlucci, an Independent Democrat from Rockland County, and state Assemblyman Thomas Abinanti, a Westchester Democrat, say their demand that the state fix the reimbursement system comes after learning that scores of early intervention providers of services for children are not receiving reimbursement payments. They say the problem stems from the slow pace of how the state Department of Health has rolled out a new billing system, one that has not facilitated payments from commercial insurance companies. They allege insurance companies have made matters worse by refusing to comply and delaying payments to the providers. Carlucci and Abinanti will join with local elected officials, parents, and nonprofit providers to demand swift restoration of payments.
