Centenarians To Be Honored In Dutchess

There is a celebration Monday in a certain Hudson Valley county. The event honors aging.

The celebration of aging will honor the oldest living person born in Dutchess County, a woman who has resided in Poughkeepsie for 109 years. The Dutchess County Office for the Aging’s event in Wappingers Falls will recognize 25 Dutchess County centenarians from every corner of the county – from Millerton to Pawling to Beacon to Rhinebeck, including two sisters ages 101 and 103.  A 104-year-old woman who sang for King George and Queen Elizabeth, and who has been riding her stationary bike since age 80, pedaling more than 75,000 miles, will also be honored, as will four couples who have been married for more than 70 years.
