Red Cross Sets Up Blood Drives In Dutchess To Aid Boston

Blood drive coordinators in New York’s Hudson Valley are dedicating their upcoming blood drives to those in Boston who suffered as a result of the explosions at the Boston Marathon.

The local Red Cross is supporting Boston area hospitals by sending 450 units of blood to help meet their needs. And, at this time, Red Cross officials advise that willing blood donors stagger their donations to help replenish supplies for use in Boston. They say the best way to show support would be to schedule blood donations in the coming weeks and help keep provisions available especially heading into the time of year when blood supplies are typically short. Three American Red Cross blood drives are scheduled for May and June in Dutchess County: in tandem with Health Quest in Lagrangeville May 1; with Vassar Brothers Medical Center May 3; and Northern Dutchess Hospital June 7.
