Saint Rose President Stefanco To Step Down In June
Dr. Carolyn Stefanco announced Tuesday that she will step down June 30 as president of The College of Saint Rose. Stefanco joined the private university in Albany in 2014.
Saint Rose has about 4,000 graduates and undergraduates. The school’s Board of Trustees says it will appoint an interim president while a national search is done to fill the post.
Stefanco’s tenure has been rocky, including a budget shortfall, staff cutbacks and the resignations of several trustees in 2017.
“I chose The College of Saint Rose because it offered me the chance to give back to students who were like me as an undergraduate,” Stefanco said in a statement Tuesday. “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with employees in all divisions of the College who are as committed as I am to helping students to exceed their expectations. We branded Saint Rose as HOME during my tenure, but it has been the home of opportunity to generations of students over its 100-year history. I am proud to be a part of that legacy.”
Stefanco says she plans to write and consult about women’s leadership in higher education after she steps down.
