Albany, NY – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo presented his second proposed executive budget on January 17, and education took a key role. In his second State of the State Address, Cuomo said that he would be the lobbyist for the state's students.

State Education Commissioner John King has already suspended funding to 10 districts, including New York City's, that failed to agree with unions on new evaluations by deadline of December 31, 2011 which was part of the requirements for the state to receive nearly $700 million in federal "Race to the Top" grant money.

On this edition of Vox Pop, we want your take on the topic of education and education funding in New York State. Is the Cuomo proposal fair to the state's teachers? Do students get overlooked as legislators and unions discuss funding schools? WAMC's Alan Chartock hosts.
