Albany, NY – According to the first article of a three part series on illegal drugs and drug addiction in the British medical journal The Lancet published January 5, marijuana, also known as grass, smoke, the chronic, pot, and weed, among other monikers, is the most widely consumed illegal drug in the world, with anywhere from 125 million to 203 million people partaking annually.
The study shows that while Australians make up the "highest" quotient of marijuana users across the globe at 15 percent, North America ranked above average when it came to marijuana with 11 percent using the drug annually.
