Albany, NY – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced yesterday that he's considering the legalization of commercial, non-Indian casinos in the state. The governor said the state needs to acknowledge that gambling is on the rise in New York and in neighboring states, and lawmakers need to decide how to respond to this fact. If legalized, full-scale commercial gambling would likely encounter public opposition, but could also act as a source for revenue and upstate jobs.
