Albany, NY – Stocks plummeted around the world Monday on worries about the economy, the first-ever downgrade of the U.S. credit rating, and debt problems in Europe. All this is a focus of the Federal Reserve's policymaking body, which is meeting today. Investors and others are watching to see if the central bank is ready to take action in response to the plunging stock market, and stalled U.S. growth.
