Scam Advisory: We have been made aware that an online entity is posing as Joe Donahue to invite authors and other creatives onto our radio shows. The scammers then attempt to charge guests an appearance fee for exposure/publicity.

Boston Globe TV Critic Matthew Gilbert

Network TV's fall season formally starts this week, when most networks are unveiling their new shows, and Nielsen starts counting ratings for the season. Which shows will succeed and which will fail?

The contenders include everything from "Gotham" to "Gracepoint," "The McCarthys," "Bad Judge," and "How to Get Away With Murder." There is also "Black-ish," "Selfie," "Stalker," and "Madam Secretary." Just to name a few.

Matthew Gilbert has been the TV critic at the Boston Globe since 1998. He has also written about TV for Slate, appeared on NPR, and been managing editor at the Boston Review.

Joe talks to people on the radio for a living. In addition to countless impressive human "gets" - he has talked to a lot of Muppets. Joe grew up in Philadelphia, has been on the area airwaves for more than 25 years and currently lives in Washington County, NY with his wife, Kelly, and their dog, Brady. And yes, he reads every single book.
