Slated for closure in June, Burdett Birth Center in Troy will remain open with new state funding

NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Estuary Program

On one day, Thursday Oct 4th, 3-thousand students, educators, and volunteers will visit 75 sites along the Hudson from New York Harbor to the mouth of the Mohawk. It is being called “A Day In the Life of Hudson River.” This is the 10th annual event, and in those ten years the DEC has had over 20,000 participants total.

Our two friends from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Estuary Program came to the studios to tell us about how this helps people get a feel for the diversity and dynamic nature of the Hudson River system. Fran Dunwell – is the Hudson River Estuary Coordinator and Chris Bowser is the Hudson River Science Educator.

Joe talks to people on the radio for a living. In addition to countless impressive human "gets" - he has talked to a lot of Muppets. Joe grew up in Philadelphia, has been on the area airwaves for more than 25 years and currently lives in Washington County, NY with his wife, Kelly, and their dog, Brady. And yes, he reads every single book.
