Albany, NY – NATIONAL TEACHER OF THE YEAR HONORED -

Many of us remember a favorite teacher or professor, someone who encouraged our interests, cleared up confusion, or expanded our horizons.

Last month, thousands of communities nationwide joined to celebrate millions of teachers on National Teacher Day.

It was a beautiful sunny day in Washington, DC as President Barack Obama honored the 2010 National Teacher of the Year and state teachers of the year from all across America at this event in the White House Rose Garden.

Chosen by the Council of Chief State School Officers for this year is Sarah Brown Wessling, a high school teacher from Johnson, Iowa.
