A bill aimed at improving safety in thoroughbred horseracing has passed the U.S. House of Representatives.

The House has approved a bill to create national medication and safety standards for the horse racing industry to discourage use of performance-enhancing drugs that can lead to horse injuries and deaths.

August is here and the thoroughbred racing season is in full swing at Saratoga Race Course. And a local congressman is trying once again to pass anti-doping legislation directed at the sport.
