The Berkshire Theatre Group presents its adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” on stage at The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, Massachusetts December 7 -21.

A holiday classic, “A Christmas Carol” celebrates the import of empathy and community connection – and BTG’s production of the story does the same.

The story was adapted for the stage by Eric Hill, who stars as the miser-who-makes-good, Ebenezer Scrooge.

Eric Hill joined us along with BTG’s Artistic Associate of Education Travis Daly, who directs “A Christmas Carol” and actor and high school student, Kate Goble – who plays Belle.

Laced with humor, rich historical detail from Charles Dickens’ life, and clever winks to his work, Samantha Silva's "Mr. Dickens and His Carol" is a new take on a cherished classic.

The Berkshire International Film Festival is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the holiday favorite, “Scrooged,” with actress Karen Allen!

“Scrooged” is a darkly comedic update of Charles Dickens' “A Christmas Carol” directed by Richard Donner, starring Bill Murray as Frank Cross, a cynical television executive whose cutthroat business practices have made him rich and powerful, but left him a coldhearted and lonely cynic. Karen Allen plays his compassionate and kind-hearted girlfriend, Claire Philips.

Special guest Karen Allen will be on hand for a "behind the scenes" conversation with Berkshire writer and BIFF board member Mary Mott, and audience Q&A session.

The special event takes place on Friday, December 14 at 7PM at the Mahaiwe Theater

“The Mystery of Edwin Drood” is a musical by Rupert Holmes for which he received Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Original Score in 1986. The show, then called “Drood” also won Best Musical that year.

Based on Charles Dickens’ last, unfinished novel and murder mystery, the show stops just before the murderer is revealed and at each performance the audience decides who “done it.”

Rupert Holmes has adapted the script into a new quick and hilarious 90 minute version. The new version will be presented at Hubbard Hall in Cambridge, NY with a further adjustment by Holmes for the action of the play to be set at Hubbard Hall.

Performances begin tonight and we are joined now by composer/playwright/lyricist Rupert Holmes and Executive & Artistic Director of the Hubbard Hall Center for the Arts and Education David Andrew Snider.

It is an absolute Christmas Classic. And at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield – it is tradition.

It is the timeless holiday tradition of A Christmas Carol with the whole family, and revel in the joy and redemptive power of Christmas as told in the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, the infamous miser who is shown the error of his ways and reformed by four spirits.

We are able to journey back to Victorian England and experience the classic story filled with holiday carols and the wonderment of the season.

Joining us – like ghosts in the night – Berkshire Theatre Group Artistic Director and CEO Kate Maguire, Travis Daly – director of the show and Scrooge himself – Eric Hill.
