The Burlington, Vermont City Council held its annual organizational meeting Monday night and the city’s mayor delivered her first State of the City address.

Democrats and Progressives on the Burlington City Council have for years often clashed over various policy issues. A new council will be sworn in Monday and their first debate will be over who will serve as the panel’s president.

The Burlington, Vermont City Council had a light agenda this week, but the public forum was robust.

Eight city councilors were sworn in and a new council president was chosen during Monday’s organizational meeting of the Burlington, Vermont City Council.
