The NHL trade deadline isn't until Wednesday, but the Los Angeles Kings and Minnesota Wild aren't waiting that long to bolster their teams. The Kings have landed another netminder to go with Jonathan Quick, getting Ben Bishop from Tampa Bay on Sunday for goalie Peter Budaj and the rights to junior defenseman Erik Cernak. The deal also includes a swap of draft picks. Bishop is 16-12-3 with a 2.55 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage this season.

Meanwhile, the Wild have acquired center Martin Hanzal from the Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes also receive a 2017 first-round pick, a 2018 second-round pick, a conditional 2019 fourth-round pick and minor leaguer Grayson Downing. Forward Ryan White and a 2017 fourth-round pick go to Minnesota as part of the package.

MLB:

In baseball Spring Training, Tampa Bay won against Boston 7-3, Houston edged Atlanta 3-2, St. Louis beat Miami 7-4, Baltimore bested Pittsburgh 8-3, the Yankees defeated Toronto 7-2, and the Mets topped Detroit 5-2.

Daytona 500:

Kurt Busch has won the Daytona 500 for the first time in 16 starts, edging Ryan Blaney. Busch surged ahead after pole-sitter Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr. and Paul Menard ran out of gas during the final three laps. Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Danica Patrick were among 15 drivers who were knocked out of the race by wrecks.

NCAA:

In college men's basketball, Marquis Wright scored 23 points, Nico Clareth hit six 3-pointers and scored 22 and Siena defeated Marist 80-64 on Sunday.

Donovan Mitchell made six 3-pointers for 25 points, Ray Spalding added 18 points with 11 rebounds and No. 7 Louisville shot 57 percent to pull away for an 88-68 victory over Syracuse on Sunday.

Je'lon Hornbeak scored 25 points and Monmouth edged Iona 79-73 yesterday to close the regular season with 16 straight wins and the top seed into the Metro Atlantic Athletic Association Tournament.

Trevis Wyche scored 14 points and St. Peter's wrapped up a second-place finish in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Association and the Number 2 seed into the conference tournament by beating Canisius 72-65 in the regular season finale for both schools yesterday. The Peacocks opened the game on an 11-0 run and never trailed in winning their sixth straight.

Jonathan Kasibabu scored 16 points, added nine rebounds, and Fairfield closed out the regular season with a 62-58 win over Niagara yesterday. Curtis Cobb finished with 15 points and Jerry Johnson Jr. added 10 for the Stags.

Youth Hockey:

Former NHL enforcer Andrew Peters has been suspended indefinitely as coach of a youth hockey team pending a Buffalo police investigation into his role in an on-ice brawl.

Buffalo Junior Sabres president Kevyn Adams announced the suspension Sunday, a day after the melee occurred during a game between the Peters-coached 15-and-Under team and the Ontario-based Hamilton Junior Bulldogs.

A video posted on YouTube shows the fight escalating into the Sabres' bench, when Peters becomes involved in attempting to separate the players.

At one point, Peters appears to shove a Hamilton player backward onto the ice.

Buffalo Police are investigating what happened, police spokesman Michael DeGeorge wrote in an email.

Peters was known for his physical style while playing six NHL seasons, including five with the Sabres. He scored four goals and seven points, and totaled 650 penalty minutes in 229 career games.

Skiing:

A stunning slalom run from Mikaela Shiffrin saw her clinch a first Alpine combined win to extend her advantage in the overall standings. The American rallied from seventh and 1.3 seconds behind after the super-G portion to open up a 300-point lead over Ilka Stuhec, who wound up third in the combined. That was good enough for her to clinch the Alpine combined title — a first globe for the 26-year-old Slovenian.

PGA:

Rickie Fowler has ended a lengthy winless drought on the PGA Tour by holding on to take the Honda Classic. Fowler shot a 1-over 71 to score a four-shot victory for his first tour win in 13 months. After Gary Woodland closed to within two shots of the lead, Fowler dropped birdie putts of 40 and 25 feet to pull away. Morgan Hoffman fired a 68 to finish in a second-place tie with Woodland.

Jason Day has withdrawn from the upcoming Mexico Championship because of an infection in both ears and the flu. The World Golf Championship event was poised to have all the top 50 golfers in the world. Day is No. 2 in the world. Day says the ear infections and flu have kept him from preparing properly.

LPGA:

Amy Yang shot a final round 4-under 68 to win the LPGA Thailand by five strokes over So Yeon Ryu. Yang has now won three times on tour, adding the Thailand title to the one she won at the event in 2015.
