Clippers forward Blake Griffin will be out 4-to-6 weeks following arthroscopic surgery to clean out his right knee. Griffin is averaging 21 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists this season, one reason why the Clippers own the fourth-best record in the NBA's Western Conference at 20-8. He missed 62 games the previous two seasons due to injuries or suspension.

Longtime TNT broadcaster Craig Sager has been remembered for his love of family, sports and colorful attire at a memorial service Tuesday that produced laughter and tears. Among those attending the service were San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and members of Sager's Turner Sports TV family, including Ernie Johnson and Reggie Miller. Sager's well-known wardrobe was celebrated at the service with many wearing colorful outfits including Rev. Randy Mickler, who presided. Sager died Thursday at 65 following a two-year fight with leukemia.

NFL:

The New York Giants have been fined $150,000 and coach Ben McAdoo was docked $50,000 by the NFL for his use of a walkie-talkie for about five plays during the Giants' 10-7 win over Dallas on Dec. 9. McAdoo used the walkie-talkie early in the fourth quarter after his communications system malfunctioned. The league also will move the Giants' fourth-round selection in the 2017 draft to the end of the round, after any compensatory picks but no more than 12 spots from where they finish in the order.

The Raiders and Falcons have landed a total of 13 players on the Pro Bowl roster. The Raiders have a league-high seven players, including quarterback Derek Carr, wide receiver Amari Cooper and center Rodney Hudson. The Falcons' six Pro Bowl selections include running back Devonta Freeman, wide receiver Julio Jones, center Alex Mack and quarterback Matt Ryan on the offense side, along with outside linebacker Vic Beasley and kicker Matt Bryant.

Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez has lost his bid to delay his trial in the 2012 killing of two men in Boston. Prosecutors say a Suffolk Superior Court judge yesterday denied a request by Hernandez's lawyer to delay the trial slated to start February 13th. Hernandez is due back in court next Tuesday for another hearing.

New York Jets coach Todd Bowles has chatted with and disciplined Sheldon Richardson after the defensive lineman's pregame Snapchat video that included some foul language went viral on social media. Bowles says the video, posted on safety Rontez Miles' account, was "immature" and "a big mistake." The coach wouldn't say what type of discipline he handed down.

Jets quarterback Bryce Petty says his bruised chest is feeling better and he expects to play Saturday at New England. Petty was injured last Saturday night when he was sandwiched by Miami's Cameron Wake and Ndamukong Suh while completing a 28-yard pass to Robby Anderson on the first play of the fourth quarter of New York's 34-13 loss.

NCAA:

The NCAA has informed Rutgers it has found seven potential violations after an 18-month investigation into the school's department of athletics. The NCAA says the department had not been operating in full compliance with NCAA and university standards. The investigation and potential violations focused on former coach Kyle Flood, a student-athlete host/hostess program and the administration of drug testing procedures and policies. Rutgers has 90 days to reply.

In college men's basketball, SMU bested UAlbany 71-53.

Providence pulled away early to beat Maine 79-59 last night for its sixth straight win. Emmit Holt scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Jalen Lindsey added 12 points and the Friars never trailed, outrebounding the Black Bears 43-37 and outscoring them 32-22 in the paint. Providence is 12-1 all-time against Maine.

No. 19 Syracuse held the nation's second-leading scorer in check for a 92-66 victory over Old Dominion on Tuesday in the Florida Sunshine Tournament.

In college women's basketball, Number 11 Miami beat Maine 76-51 last night for the Miami Holiday Tournament championship. Adrienne Motley had 21 points, and Jessica Thomas scored her 1,000th career point for Miami. Tanesha Sutton scored 13 points and Julie Brosseau added 10 for Maine.

Prosecutors say they are reviewing a report prepared by University of Minnesota investigators on allegations of sexual assault by several members of the Gophers football team. The prosecutor's office said in October it had insufficient evidence to charge anyone after a police investigation of the September incident. The university conducted its own investigation, which led to last week's suspensions of 10 players and a brief boycott of football activities by the team.

MLB:

The Red Sox have traded right-hander Clay Buchholz to the Philadelphia Phillies for minor league second baseman Josh Tobias. Buchholz was the odd man out in a Boston rotation that added Chris Sale this offseason. Tobias has hit .301 in 188 minor league games since being selected by the Phillies in the 10th round of the 2015 amateur draft.

The New York Yankees have traded pitcher Nick Goody to the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named or $50,000. The teams say the swap must be completed by May 5th. A 25-year-old right-hander, Goody had a 4.66 ERA in 27 relief appearances for the Yankees this year, striking out 34 in 29 innings.

The Staten Island Yankees are keeping their name, abandoning a fan vote that included Pizza Rats as an option. The Yankees farm team in the Class A New York-Penn League also had listed Bridge Trolls, Island Heroes, Killer Bees and Rock Pigeons as choices. "Over time it became clear that the approval and acceptance of the new name and artwork would take longer than initially anticipated," the team said in a statement Monday. "With that taken into consideration, we decided to table the rebranding process for the upcoming season." Staten Island said it "encountered obstacles that unfortunately delayed the process beyond industry deadlines."

The Pirates have worked out a two-year, $11 million deal with reliever Daniel Hudson, who missed the 2012 and 2013 seasons following Tommy John surgery. Hudson went 3-2 with a 5.22 ERA in 70 appearances for the Diamondbacks in 2016.

The Padres have worked out a deal with free-agent right-hander Jhoulys Chacin while keeping lefty Clayton Richard. Chacin was 6-8 with a 4.81 ERA for the Braves and Angels last season, while Richard compiled a 3-4 record and a 3.33 earned run average with San Diego and the Cubs. Both hurlers accepted one-year pacts worth $1.75 million.

Tennis:

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova was injured by a knife-wielding attacker at her home, damaging tendons in her left hand. Kvitova's spokesman said that although the injuries were serious, there is no reason to think they were career-ending. The spokesman added that Kvitova won't be able to train for at least three months, causing her to miss the Australian Open.

Glens Falls Civic Center:

Last night’s Adirondack Thunder hockey game was postponed after deterioration was found on a support wall inside the venue. The Glens Falls Civic Center was closed after crews removing snow from the roof noticed the deterioration.
