His 3,154 strikeouts rank 13th on the career list. Also inducted into the Hall of Fame were John Smoltz, Craig Biggio, and Randy Johnson.

Marco Dawson won the Senior British Open by one shot over defending champion Bernhard Langer. Dawson shot a final round 6-under-64 to finish 16 shots under par. Colin Montgomerie was third and Miguel Angel Jimenez fourth.

NASCAR:

Kyle Busch is the hottest driver on the NASCAR circuit right now. Busch was fastest in a green-white-checkered flag three-lap restart to win the Brickyard 400 for his third straight Sprint Cup victory and fourth in his last five and 33rd of his career.

Soccer:

Mexico is Gold Cup soccer champion for the third time in the last four tournaments after beating Jamaica 3-1. Mexico scored the first three goals before the Reggae Boyz finally scored in the 80th minute. Mexico won the Gold Cup for a record seventh time.

Team USA failed to earn a medal after losing 2-1 to Panama in the third place game Saturday.

F1:

Four-time world champion and Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel won an action-packed Hungarian Grand Prix for the first time. He started third but moved into the front immediately to claim his second Formula One victory of the season. The win was the 41st of his F1 career, moving him into a tie with Brazilian great Ayrton Senna.

Red Bull took advantage of late chaos in the race with Russian driver Daniil Kvyat finishing second and Daniel Ricciardo third.

Defending champion and points leader Lewis Hamilton finished sixth and his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg was eighth after being involved in a mishap late in the race.

Tour de France:

Because of rain and slippery roads, Tour de France organizers stopped the race clock during the final stage of the event, meaning Chris Froome was guaranteed his second victory just so long as he crossed the finish line. He did, wearing the yellow jersey and riding a canary yellow bike. He has now won the top event in cycling in two of the last three years.

Earlier in the day, a car struck a taxi and crashed through a barricade set up near the Tour de France finish line. The car was eventually found and police are looking for four occupants. Police found the car with bullet impacts not far from the Place de la Concorde where police opened fire, according to a police official and a ranking official close to the investigation.
