Boston is marking the second anniversary of the 2013 marathon bombings with a subdued remembrance. Mayor Marty Walsh and other officials will raise commemorative banners today on Boylston Street. A moment of silence will follow at 2:49 p.m., when the first of two bombs exploded near the finish line April 15, 2013. Church bells will then ring throughout the city. Three people were killed and more than 260 others were wounded in the attacks.
NBA:
In the NBA, the Boston Celtics have secured the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs by knocking off the Atlantic Division champions after Boston edged Toronto 95-93, Indiana bested Washington in double overtime 99-95, and the Clippers topped Phoenix 112-101.
Today is the last day for the NBA regular season.
The Boston Celtics will play the Sacramento Kings in Mexico City in December, the NBA's third regular-season game in Mexico. It will be the league's 22nd game in Mexico overall, the most for any country outside the U.S. and Canada. The December 3rd game will be the centerpiece of a trip that will also include community programs and interactive fan events.
NHL:
The NHL playoffs start tonight when the Islanders see the Capitals in Washington at 7 p.m. Meanwhile Ottawa is in Montreal at 7. The Rangers will see Pittsburgh tomorrow.
The Pittsburgh Penguins' hopes of upsetting the New York Rangers in the opening round of the playoffs rely heavily on goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. Fleury led the NHL and set a franchise record with 10 shutouts. The Penguins needed every one of them. Pittsburgh didn't lock down a ninth straight postseason spot until Fleury stopped 28 shots in a 2-0 win over Buffalo on the final day of the regular season. Game 1 between New York and Pittsburgh is tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden.
Chicago Blackhawks right wing Patrick Kane is expected to play in Game 1 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series against Nashville tonight. Kane received medical clearance to play on Monday, two months after breaking his collarbone. He skated with former linemates Brad Richards and Kris Versteeg during today's practice.
MLB:
In baseball, in interleague play Boston edged Washington 8-7, Detroit blanked Pittsburgh 2-0, and it was the Dodgers over Seattle 6-5.
In the American League, Baltimore edged the Yankees 4-3, Tampa Bay slid past Toronto 3-2, the White Sox won against Cleveland 4-1, Texas bested the Angels 8-2, and it was Oakland over Houston 4-0.
In the National League, the Mets edged Philadelphia 6-5, Miami topped Atlanta 8-2, Cincinnati slid past the Cubs 3-2, San Diego beat Arizona 5-1, and it was Colorado over San Francisco 4-1.
NCAA:
UAlbany men’s lacrosse beat out Bryant 10-8 last night for their third straight victory. Meanwhile the Danes’ Lyle Thompson is the new NCAA DI all-time scoring leader, breaking the record for most points in a career at 357 points.
Providence College fans are celebrating the school's first NCAA men's hockey championship. Friars fan erupted in cheers when co-captain Russ Mauermann exclaimed, "We're national champions!" during a victory celebration yesterday at Schneider Arena. The Friars defeated Boston University 4-3 on Saturday to win the NCAA Division I Championship at the TD Garden in Boston.
No more separating Army and West Point. After a rebranding process with Nike that took 18 months, the athletic teams of the United States Military Academy will be called Army West Point. All 28 of the school's sports teams will have a new main logo featuring a shield, sword, star and helmet. The primary colors are the traditional black, gold, gray and white.
Duke freshman Justise Winslow and Arkansas sophomore Bobby Portis have announced that they are leaving school early to enter the NBA draft. Winslow averaged 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds while helping Duke win its fifth national title. Portis is the reigning SEC Player of the Year and averaged 17.5 points and 8.9 rebounds last season.

Jurors will return this morning for a seventh day of deliberations in the murder trial of former Patriots player Aaron Hernandez. Jurors have been mulling over the case for nearly 35 hours as they decide whether to convict him of the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee.
