Sports Report: Oregon And Ohio State Will Star In College Football Championship

NCAAF:

The Oregon Ducks and Ohio State Buckeyes have one more football game to play, and it'll be for the national championship on Jan. 12 in Arlington, Texas.

Third-ranked Oregon has advanced to the national championship game and ended Florida State's 29-game winning streak by scoring the last 35 points in a 59-20 rout of the second-ranked Seminoles at the Rose Bowl. Marcus Mariota threw for three touchdowns and ran for another while accounting for 400 total yards of offense. The Ducks scored touchdowns off three Seminoles' turnovers, two by FSU quarterback Jameis Winston.

Fifth-ranked Ohio State is in the national championship game after Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 230 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-35 triumph over No. 1 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Elliott put the Buckeyes ahead 42-28 by scoring on an 85-yard run with 3:24 remaining. He also sparked a string of four straight Ohio State touchdowns with a three-yard scoring run late in the second quarter after Alabama build a 21-6 lead.

NFL:

The NFL wild-card playoffs start on Saturday when Arizona goes up against Carolina at 4:20 p.m. Then at 8:15 Baltimore faces Pittsburgh. On Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Cincinnati goes up against Indianapolis then at 4:40 Detroit faces Dallas.

NBA:

LeBron James and Stephen Curry remain the leading NBA All-Star vote-getters after the second tally of fan ballots. Cleveland's James leads all with nearly 776,000 votes at the Eastern Conference frontcourt spot. Golden State's Curry has more than 755,000, good for second in the league and tops among the Western Conference guards.

In the NBA, Chicago bested Detroit 106-101, and it was Sacramento over Minnesota 110-107.

NHL:

Over on the ice, Washington topped Chicago 3-2 and Los Angeles beat Vancouver 3-2.
