Sports Report: Packers Hold Off Patriots 26-21

NFL:

The Green Bay Packers fended off the New England Patriots 26-21 yesterday in a high-profile matchup between Super Bowl contenders. Jacksonville rallied to beat the New York Giants 25-24, Buffalo topped Cleveland 26-10, St. Louis crushed Oakland 52-0, and it was Denver over Kansas City 29-16.

On Monday Night Football, Miami is in the Meadowlands to face the Jets at 8:30.

NBA:

In the NBA, Miami bested New York 86-79, Chicago beat Brooklyn 102-84, San Antonio defeated Boston 111-89, and it was the Lakers over Toronto in overtime 129-122.

NHL:

Over on the ice Detroit beat Vancouver 5-3.

NCAA:

In men’s college basketball, Quinnipiac beat Vermont 89-73 yesterday. Ousmane Drame scored a career-high 33 points, giving him exactly 1,000 for his career, and grabbed 13 rebounds. Evan Conti added a career-high 22 points for the Bobcats. Hector Harold and Ryan Pierson had 13 points apiece for the Catamounts. No. 7 Texas defeated No. 24 UConn 55-54.

In women’s college basketball, No. 3 UConn beat Green Bay 89-53.

Police say missing Ohio State football player Kosta Karageorge has been found dead, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police tell media outlets Karageorge was found near campus Sunday.
