UAlbany Danes Win The League's Two Major Awards

In the NBA, San Antonio beat Miami 111-87, Phoenix topped Oklahoma City 128-122, and the LA Clippers defeated the LA Lakers 142-94.

In the NHL, Boston shut out Washington 3-0, Edmonton slid past the NY Islanders 3-2 in overtime, it was Los Angeles over Winnipeg 3-1, Buffalo defeated Tampa Bay 3-1, Colorado edged Detroit 3-2 in overtime, Chicago bested Columbus 6-1, St. Louis won against Nashville 2-1, Dallas trumped Vancouver 6-1, Phoenix beat Montreal 5-2, and San Jose had a 5-3 victory over Pittsburgh.

Checking men’s top 25 college hoops, it was No. 6 Villanova over Xavier 77-70, No. 15 Cincinnati bested No. 20 Memphis 97-84, and No. 22 Michigan State defeated No. 24 Iowa 86-76.

In women’s basketball No. 1 ranked UAlbany, will enter the America East Conference tournament against No. 8 Binghamton tonight at the SEFCU Arena as the heavy favorite. The Great Danes won the league's two major awards as Katie Abrahamson-Henderson was named Coach of the Year for the third straight year and sophomore Shereesha Richards, who dominated during the regular season, was named the Player of the Year.

Yesterday 10th ranked the Siena Saints bested 7th ranked Manhattan 87-66 in the first bracket of the MAAC tournament. Later tonight the Saints will take on No. 2 Marist at 7PM. Marist has won the last 21 games against the Saints.

Now in Top 25 Women’s college basketball, No. 13 North Carolina beat Wake Forest 69-65, and No. 23 Iowa defeated Illinois 81-62.
