Well, nothing lasts forever. Top-ranked Syracuse ran out of miracles last night. Boston College earned its first victory over a No. 1-ranked team since 2009 by upsetting the previously undefeated Orange 62-59 in overtime. Syracuse is now 25-1 overall.
Elsewhere, Second-ranked Florida defeated Auburn 71-66. No. 3 Wichita St. beat Loyola of Chicago 88-74. Fourth-ranked Arizona won against Utah 67-63 in overtime. No. 7 Cincinnati edged UCF 77-49. Tenth-ranked Saint Louis had a. 89-85 victory over George Mason. No. 11 Creighton topped Marquette 85-70.
No. 23 UCLA beat California 86-66 and No. 24 Ohio St. defeated Northwestern 76-60.
Elsewhere in college basketball, UAlbany won its first road game since Jan. 18 with a 57-48 win over Binghamton.
It was also a good night for the UAlbany women’s team. They set out to make history when they played Binghamton at SEFCU Arena.
The Danes crushed the Bearcats 86-35, tying an America East record with their 37th consecutive victory in conference play.
In the NBA, New York defeated New Orleans 98-91. Brooklyn bested Utah 105-99. Boston fell to Phoenix 100-94. Golden State took Sacramento 101-92. Chicago won against Toronto 94-92. Charlotte topped Detroit 116-98. Cleveland beat Orlando 101-93. Washington defeated Atlanta 114-97. Minnesota had a 104-91 victory over Indiana. San Antonio slid past Portland 111-109 and the Lakers fell to Houston 134-108.
At the Winter Games in Sochi, Ted Ligety won the giant slalom Wednesday, becoming the first American man to win two Olympic gold medals in Alpine skiing. Skiers from France took the second and third place.
And the moment has finally come. It will be Team USA and Canada fighting for Olympic gold in women’s hockey at noon ET today.
