In college basketball, it was a close one but Siena narrowly avoided defeat Monday night. After trailing by 16 points to last-place Fairfield in the first half, the Saints rallied to beat the Stags 77-75 at Times Union Center snapping a two-game losing streak.

Led by No. 1 Syracuse, the top six teams in The Associated Press college basketball poll are the same this week as last. Following the 23-0 Orange, who are a unanimous choice to be No. 1, are Arizona, Florida, Wichita State, San Diego State and Villanova.

Checking the top 25 scoreboard, Kansas St. upset No. 7 Kansas 85-82. It was West Virginia over eleventh-ranked Iowa St. 102-77 and Maryland fell to No. 17 Virginia 61-53.

In women’s college basketball, No. 17 North Carolina defeated No. 3 Duke 89-78 and eighth-ranked Tennessee beat No. 16 Vanderbilt 81-53.

In the NBA, Boston won against Milwaukee 102-86. Jeff Green had 29 points.

Philadelphia followed Sunday's 45-point loss to the Los Angeles Clippers with a 43-point setback at Golden State. Indiana beat Denver 119-80. Toronto beat New Orleans 108-101. Detroit had a 109-100 victory over San Antonio and Houston topped Minnesota 107-89.

Moving over to the Olympics in Sochi, Russia, American Shaun White says he's antsy about his upcoming chance to make history on the halfpipe.

The halfpipe contest is today, and White could become the seventh athlete to win three straight golds in an individual Winter Olympics sport.
