Sacramento beat New Orleans 114-97. Rudy Gay tied a career high with 41 points.

In college basketball, No. 3 Michigan won against Indiana 71-66. Fourteenth-ranked Kentucky passed Texas A&M 68-51. No. 20 Pittsburgh crushed Clemson 76-43 and Texas beat No. 22 Kansas St. 67-64.
In the NHL, the New York Islanders rallied from two goals down to beat the New York Rangers 5-3. It was Florida over Buffalo 4-3. Columbus defeated Los Angeles 5-3. Ottawa shut out Washington 2-0. New Jersey had a 7-1 victory over St. Louis. Dallas blanked Minnesota 4-0. Toronto beat Colorado 5-2. Vancouver defeated Edmonton 2-1 and Winnipeg won against Anaheim 3-2.
Several angry major league players wanted Alex Rodriguez kicked out of their union after he sued it last week, but staff lawyers told them expulsion was not allowed.
The players spoke Jan. 13 during a Major League Baseball Players Association conference call after Rodriguez sued the union and Major League Baseball to overturn an arbitrator's decision suspending him for the 2014 season and postseason.
At the Australian Open, second seed and two-time defending champion Victoria Azarenka was ousted in the quarters by No. 5 Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1, 5-7, 6-0.
