In the NBA, the Knicks ended a nine-game losing streak and improved to 4-13 defeating the Nets 113-83 in Brooklyn. Carmelo Anthony had 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Knicks made a season-high 16 3-pointers in 27 attempts led by as many as 34 in winning their first meeting of the season against their city rivals.
Elsewhere, the Clippers had a 101-81 victory over Memphis and Miami fell to Chicago 107-87. Chicago's win came hours after Bulls guard Derrick Rose said he's not ruling out a playoff return if his surgically-repaired knee is fully healed by then.

Following the death of former South African President Nelson Mandela there continues to be growing reaction from the sports world. Finally in baseball, free-agent second baseman Robinson Cano traveled to Seattle on Thursday night and met with the Mariners. The Yankees believe the Mariners are about to offer Cano a nine-year, $225 million contract.
