In the NFL, the Indianapolis Colts fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter on Thursday before padding their lead in the AFC South. Donald Brown had two touchdown runs and the Colts bounced back from Sunday's 38-8 loss to St. Louis by rallying for a 30-27 triumph against Tennessee.
Veteran safety Ed Reed long agreed to terms on a contract with the New York Jets, just a day after being released by Houston. The move reunites him with Jets coach Rex Ryan, who coached Reed for several years in Baltimore.
In college football action, eighth-ranked Clemson ripped Georgia Tech 55-31.
In the NBA, Carmelo Anthony scored an NBA season-high 45 points last night, but it wasn't enough for the New York Knicks to avoid their fifth loss in eight games. The Houston Rockets downed Anthony and the New York Knicks 109-106. James Harden scored 36 points in his return to the lineup.
Elsewhere, it was Golden State over Oklahoma City 116-115.
In baseball, the American and National League most valuable players have been announced, capping baseball's postseason honors.
Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera won his second straight American League MVP award while Pittsburgh outfielder Andrew McCutchen was named National League MVP.
Meanwhile, major league baseball owners have approved funding for replay expansion next year and plan to approve the exact rules in January.
In the NHL, Boston beat Columbus 3-2 in overtime. Los Angeles won against the NY Islanders 3-2. It was Tampa Bay over Anaheim 5-1. St. Louis edged Colorado 7-3. Chicago topped Phoenix 5-4 in a shootout. Dallas passed Calgary 7-3 and Vancouver fell to San Jose 2-1 in overtime.
Finally, in women’s college basketball, UAlbany defeated Marist 69-59.
