In baseball news, while Monday appears to be the deadline for Alex Rodriguez and 13 others to accept suspensions for their ties to the Biogenesis of America anti-aging clinic, ESPN reports that negotiations between A-Rod and Major League Baseball have stalled over Rodriguez's desire to make sure he can cash in on some of the $100 million owed under his contract.

On the scoreboard, the Red Sox came back to beat the Mariners 8-7 last night and sweep Seattle in the three-game series. Daniel Nava's long single to center field capped a six-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Elsewhere in the American League, it was Cleveland over the White Sox 6-1. Kansas City defeated Minnesota 7-2. Baltimore doubled up Houston 6-3 and the Angels cruised ahead of Toronto 8-2.

In the National League, Miami blanked the Mets 3-0. San Francisco edged Philadelphia 2-1. The Cardinals mauled Pittsburgh 13-0. The outcome leaves the Pirates with a 1 ½-game lead over the Cards in the NL Central. Atlanta downed Colorado 11-2 and the Dodgers bested the Cubs 6-4.

Checking interleague play, it was Texas over Arizona 7-1. Yu Darvish tied a career high with 14 strikeouts.

In golf news, Inbee Park has begun her pursuit of an unprecedented fourth straight major with a 3-under 69 that left her three shots back through the opening round of the Women's British Open.

And Webb Simpson's 6-under 64 is good for the first-round lead of the Bridgestone Invitational. Simpson had six birdies in an eight-hole span to get the upper hand on seven-time Bridgestone winner Tiger Woods.

Finally at Saratoga Race Course, Mr. Hot Stuff won the Grade 1 Smithwick Memorial Steeplechase Stakes for trainer Jack Fisher under jockey Paddy Young, paying $12.00 to win.
