It appeared that the Boston Bruins were going to force a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Bruins held a 2-1 edge over the Chicago Blackhawks before Bryan Bickell tied it up with 1:16 to go in the third period. Less than 17 seconds after that Dave Bolland scored and the Blackhawks won their fifth Stanley Cup 3-2 over the Bruins. Patrick Kane came away with the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs. Kane scored nine goals and 19 points in 23 games.
Meanwhile, ESPN is reporting that the official completion of the deal that will send Doc Rivers to the Los Angeles Clippers is being delayed because Rivers and his representatives are still negotiating the language in the coach's new contract. The NBA still has yet to officially approve the deal.
Police are again searching the area near the North Attleborough, Massachusetts home of New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. Authorities searched a pond near Hernandez's home Monday.
In baseball news, the Boston Red Sox open a two-game series today at Fenway Park against the Colorado Rockies. In the American League yesterday, Cleveland defeated Baltimore 5-2 and Tampa Bay won against Toronto 4-1 ending their team record-tying 11-game winning streak.
In the National League, it was San Diego over Philadelphia 4-3 in 10 innings and the Dodgers bested San Francisco 3-1.
Finally in tennis news, Rafael Nadal was a first-round casualty at Wimbledon. The men's No. 5 seed was ousted by Belgium's Steve Darcis, the world's 135th ranked player.
