WAMC Morning Edition Sports Update

In the NBA playoffs, the Pacers have taken a 3-1 series lead on the Knicks after a 93-82 victory last night. Indiana needs one more win to reach the conference finals for the first time since 2004. Elsewhere, Tony Parker scored 25 points in leading the Spurs to a 109-91 win over Golden State and a 3-2 lead in their playoff series.

Checking NHL playoff action, Tomas Vokoun stopped 35 shots helping Pittsburgh defeat Ottawa 4-1. Game 2 is Friday in Pittsburgh. Also, Los Angeles shut out San Jose 2-0.

Elsewhere on the ice, the United States missed out on a chance to top its group at the ice hockey world championships, losing 4-1 to Slovakia.

Checking baseball news, in the American League, Robinson Cano hit a two-run double and the Yankees beat Seattle 4-3. Boston fell to Tampa Bay 5-3. Detroit beat Houston 6-2. The White Sox doubled up Minnesota 4-2. The Angels passed Kansas City 6-2 and Texas defeated Oakland 6-5. That game lasted 10 Innings.

In the National League, St. Louis cruised ahead of the Mets 10-4. Pittsburgh edged ahead of Milwaukee 4-3 in 12 Innings. Cincinnati topped Miami 6-2. Colorado beat the Cubs 9-4. Arizona shut out Atlanta 2-0 and the Dodgers won against Washington 2-0.

Checking interleague play, It was Philadelphia over Cleveland 6-2. San Diego topped Baltimore 3-2 and Toronto beat San Francisco 10-6.

In other sports news, the U.S., Russian and Iranian wrestling teams will meet today for a historic exhibition in New York to showcase what the sport's international governing body has dubbed "World Wrestling Month."
