It’s the Monday after selection Sunday and Louisville drew the No. 1 overall seed in the 68-team NCAA tournament and the Big East champion will stay in its home state for the first two games.
Elsewhere in the Midwest Region, Duke is No. 2. Michigan St. is No. 3 and Saint Louis No. 4.
The Duke Blue Devils play the UAlbany Great Danes in the second round in Philadelphia this Friday. Albany is No. 15.
In the West Region, Gonzaga is the top seed and will open the tournament on Thursday in Salt Lake City against No. 16 seed Southern in the second round.
Ohio St. is No. 2. They face Iona on Friday in Dayton, Ohio. New Mexico is No. 3 and Kansas St. is No. 4.
No. 14 Harvard will take on No. 3 New Mexico Thursday in Salt Lake City.
In the East Region, Indiana is the No. 1 seed and will open the tournament in Dayton, Ohio. Indiana will face either Long Island-Brooklyn or James Madison.
Miami is No. 2. Marquette is No. 3 and Syracuse is No. 4. The Orange will face No. 13 Montana in San Jose, California on Thursday.
In the South Region, Big 12 champion Kansas earned a No. 1 seed for the fifth time in seven years. Kansas will open play in the South Region against Sun Belt champ Western Kentucky.
Georgetown is No. 2. Florida is No. 3 and Michigan is No. 4.
No. 5 Virginia Commonwealth will face No. 12 Akron. VCU beat UMass this past Saturday 71-62.
So, which teams got snubbed this year? Kentucky's inconsistent play left the Wildcats without a chance to defend their national championship.
Alabama and Tennessee also missed the cut, marking the first time in 39 years that the Wildcats, Crimson Tide and Volunteers were left out of the same NCAA tournament.
