WAMC Morning Edition Sports Update

In the NBA, LeBron James had 29 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, and the Miami Heat tied a franchise record with their 14th straight victory, rallying to beat the Knicks 99-93 on Sunday.

Kobe Bryant scored 11 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter and hit the go-ahead layup with nine seconds left to give the Lakers a 99-98 win over Atlanta.

Elsewhere, Oklahoma City beat the Clippers 108-104.

Sacramento defeated Charlotte 119-83 and Indiana beat Chicago 97-92.

Checking the NHL, Rick Nash had a goal and assist and also scored in the shootout to lead the New York Rangers to a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

The Islanders defeated Ottawa 3-2 and Chicago beat Detroit 2-1.

In top 25 college basketball, fourth-ranked Michigan rallied to beat ninth-ranked Michigan St. 58-57

In other college basketball news, Stony Brook beat Albany 75-70.

In baseball spring training action, New York beat the Red Sox 5-2 in a game that's likely to be very different from the teams' opening-day matchup April 1st. Brett Gardner was the only regular in the Yankees' starting lineup. Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki is fine and has no soreness after being involved in a traffic accident Saturday.

Michael Thompson captured his first PGA Tour title at the Honda Classic. Thompson capped a 1-under-par 69 with a birdie on the final hole.

Finally, Carl Edwards took the checkered flag at Phoenix International Raceway. Edwards led the final 78 laps in ending his 70-race winless streak.
