WAMC Morning Edition Sports Update

In top 25 college basketball, Minnesota beat No. 1 Indiana 77-73, for the fourth time in the school’s history. This is the third time Indiana has lost as the No. 1 team this season.

Elsewhere, Tennessee beat eighth-ranked Flordia 64-58 and 17th Wisconsin beat Nebraska 77-46.

In the NBA, Miami beat Sacramento 141-129. LeBron James had 40 points and a career-high 16 assists. Dwyane Wade scored 39 points.

Brooklyn won against New Orleans 101-97. Deron Williams scored 33 points and Brook Lopez added 20. Indiana beat Golden State 108 97. Cleveland topped Chicago 101-98. Milwaukee beat Dallas 95-90. Phoenix defeated Minnesota 84-83 and the Clippers upset Charlotte 106-84.

Checking the NHL, Tyler Myers scored a go-ahead goal early in third period, helping the Sabres' 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Winnipeg beat the Rangers 4-3. Boston defeated the Islanders 4-1. Washington beat Carolina 3-0. Dallas beat Columbus 5-4. Florida beat Pittsburgh 6-4 and San Jose won against Colorado 3-2.

In baseball spring training action, the Cardinals slammed the Red Sox 15-4. The Phillies rallied past the Yankees 4-3. Miami beat the Mets 7-5 and Arizona tied L.A. 7-7.

The attorney for three NASCAR fans injured last weekend during a race the day before the Daytona 500 says they are exploring a possible lawsuit, but some experts say they could face tough obstacles in winning damages.
