When disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein hanged himself in a jail cell earlier this month while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges in New York, it was a stunning turn in a case about money, power and influence. A Vassar College history professor says the Epstein story is representative of systemic problems in American society and the justice system. Professor Dr. Mita Choudhury spoke with WAMC’s Hudson Valley Bureau Chief Allison Duune about parallels she sees in other realms of society.
