Hikers, hunters and others planning to head into the Adirondack backcountry may find some trails and roads inaccessible due to extensive damage from the Halloween storm.
Many roads and highways were damaged, some seasonal roads are impassable, and many hiking trails are blocked by fallen trees or have washed-out bridges. The Department of Environmental Conservation has posted an advisory online listing conditions and closures.

Powley Piseco Road in the Ferris Lake Wild Forest has severe washouts and is closed for the foreseeable future. Gulf Brook Road into the Boreas Pond Tract in North Hudson is closed due to washout.

In the Siamese Ponds Wilderness, 13th Lake Road is washed out and state Route 8 has washouts in several places. There are washouts on Route 30 in Indian Lake.
