New York Congressman Antonio Delgado on Wednesday introduced legislation to halt political contributions from opioid manufacturers.

Congressman Delgado of the 19th District introduced the Save Lives Act with fellow New York Democrat Max Rose. The measure would prohibit donations to federal candidates from corporate political action committees, or PACs, of pharmaceutical companies that manufacture opioids. Delgado says that addressing the opioid crisis must also include rooting out the corrupting influences that perpetuate it. Earlier this week, Delgado helped to introduce legislation banning all corporate PACs. It’s called the Ban Corporate PACs Act.
