Hinds Discusses State Senate Budget Proposal, Impact On Western Mass

Last week, the Massachusetts Senate approved its version of a proposed fiscal year 2022 budget. The nearly $48 billion plan heads next to a conference committee to reconcile it with the House’s proposal. Western Massachusetts Democratic State Senator Adam Hinds is the Chairperson of the Joint Committee on Revenue. He spoke with WAMC about the Senate budget, what happened to fears of the pandemic reducing state income by billions, and how the plan addresses inequality.
