Vermont’s largest city is lifting its mask mandate in stores and public buildings for fully vaccinated people.
The Burlington City Council on Monday voted unanimously to drop the mandate after postponing the vote for a few weeks.

Ward 4 Democrat Sarah Carpenter felt it had been appropriate to delay while working to increase the vaccination rate.  “Chittenden Country is almost 82 percent vaccinated. Our 18 to 29-year-olds the group that we were most worried about has come up almost 8 or 9 percent in the last couple of weeks. So I feel confident that we’re on the right trajectory.”

Private businesses can still require employees and customers to wear masks.
