A bill to rename a post office after former New York Congressman Maurice Hinchey is now law.

New York Democratic Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer along with Republican Congressman John Faso say their bill renames the post office on Market Street in Saugerties for the Hudson Valley Democrat who died late last year. The Hinchey family says the former Congressman would be humbled by the naming. Schumer says the designation is a fitting tribute to a hometown hero who fought for the environment and a just society.
