An upstate New York Mayor is blaming President Trump’s ban on travel from seven Middle Eastern countries for preventing athletes from India traveling to the Adirondacks.

India is not among the seven majority-Muslim countries included in the Executive Order barring travel for 90 days.

But Saranac Lake Mayor Clyde Rabideau reports that athletes from Kashmir, India planning to compete in the World Snowshoe Championships in the Adirondack village were denied visas to travel to Saranac Lake.

Rabideau recounts on his Facebook page that one of the athletes told him by phone that the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi told them that due to current policy they cannot issue visas.
